Buckley arrives at Orient following his role as the inaugural Women’s First Team Manager at Maldon & Tiptree, where he was responsible for establishing the club’s women’s programme from the ground up. His work there earned recognition for its structure, ambition, and strong player development focus — qualities that made him the standout candidate for the Orient job.
Speaking after his appointment, Buckley highlighted his excitement at joining a club with a passionate fanbase and a growing presence in the women’s game. His approach centres on high-intensity football, a clear tactical identity and a culture built on accountability and togetherness. He said...
I'm excited to take the role of first team Manager at Leyton Orient Women. It's a project which comes with genuine backing and clear ambition. I'm under no illusions there will be challenges and pressure along the way but representing a club like Leyton Orient brings a real sense of pride and focus. That identity will be key in driving standards and shaping our priorities for the season.
The club’s leadership emphasised that Buckley’s energy, professionalism, and long-term vision align perfectly with the direction of Leyton Orient Women as preparations begin for the 2026/27 season. His role will include strengthening the squad, enhancing training standards and building a pathway that supports both current players and future talent.
Buckley’s appointment marks a significant step forward for the team as the O’s continue to raise standards on and off the pitch. Supporters can expect a refreshed, ambitious approach as the new manager begins work immediately ahead of pre-season.
The crew here at LOFCwomen.com welcome Jody to the club and look forward to an exciting new chapter under his leadership.
Staffers here at LOFCwomen.com had brief discussions with Jason Stephens during the final games of the season where he advised there were plans to make changes resulting from the likely position Orient will find themselves in next season and in the light of experiences from such a dominating season in Tier 7. As per the club's requirement's, we waited until things are more settled and the club had time to make a clear announcement.
We'll bring more details as soon as we hear more.
