Update: Apr 6th 2026
- Hello Bria!
- Fixtures list updates
- Tooting clash delayed?
Welcome Bria Abbiati
Leyton Orient Women's Group have been busy on the recruitment front. The club are not unknown in the north-eastern state of Massachusetts, it is from there that new signing Bria Abbiati hails. Bria already appears in the registrations list for the Os as published by the Greater London Women's Football League, a 'county' level league affiliated to and overseen by the Women's Football Association.
So it's a warm lofcwomen.com welcome to Bria from everyone here, we're sure you'll find it all positive and upbeat.
Until recently, Bria played for Williams College, an elite liberal arts institution in Massachusetts. Located in Williamstown near the borders with New York and Vermont. It's comparable in status to Oxbridge, think of it as the U.S. equivalent of a top academic college set in a scenic countryside setting.
Williams has one of the strongest women’s soccer (ugh!) programmes in NCAA Division III. They’ve built a reputation for tactical discipline, deep rosters, and a culture that attracts top athletes.
As we understand things, Bria is registered until the end of the season. In non-professional women's football there are no contracts so, come the new season, everyone is in the same boat!
Bria is already on record as saying: “I am incredibly excited to join Leyton Orient for the remainder of the season! This team is fantastic and I am very grateful for the opportunity to play alongside them.”
Bria is a forward player with a strong appearance and scoring record. With Steph McCaffrey playing in the US at International level and other O's players having spent extended periods playing US college football, the know-how regarding the standards of players, coaching and general fitness are well known in our club. Bria will doubtless be a valuable addition to the squad.
Bria appears in our Player Gallery, we look forward to receiving a shot with her wearing the red (or green) of the Os!
Changes to the fixtures list
Things have become confusing, perhaps this is due to Orient being in the final of one cup competition and the semi-final of another. That has caused additional league postponements (in addition to the bad weather mid-season) so now we have some changes to set out....
As of today....
Sunday 12th April
Home to Islington
League Cup
Change of venue, it will be played at Cheshunt now. 2pm kick off
Sunday 19th April
Away at Academicals
Premier League
2pm kick off
Sunday 26th April
Hammersmith vs Os
Capital Cup Final
Meadowbank stadium, Dorking. 3pm kick off
Sunday 26th April
Away at Tooting Bec
Premier League
Almost certainly to be postponed - clash with Cup Final
Wednesday 6th May
Away at Luton Dev
Premier League
7:45 pm Kick off at Barton Rovers' ground.
Sunday 10th May
Home to AFC Leyton
Premier League
2pm kick off at Brisbane Rd. (Likely to change!)
We've listed every game (above) although the Premier League game against Tooting Bec will almost certainly be postponed as it falls on the same day as the Capital Cup final. We await a new date for that. In view of the top-of-the-table battle between us and Bec, this game may turn out to be the title decider.
Be mindful of the Wednesday night game against Luton Town, a 7:45 kick off at Barton Rovers FC.
In view of all this, please keep an eye on our fixtures/results page where we'll endeavour to keep up to date with the inevitable changes.
Coming on Thursday
After the no-game Easter weekend, this Thursday will see the return of our regular posts, this week's will include Gizmo's match preview of Sunday's league game against our neighbours in Walthamstow, London Academicals. There will also be a full run-down of all four GLWFL Premier Division teams in action (two league and two League Cup matches) plus any other relevant bits and bobs we find out between today and Thursday. See you then!
