GLWFL Premier Division
South London vs Orient
A quick return fixture for Orient against the third best team in the division. Orient arrive at this match having beaten a Tier 6 side, Ashmount Leigh, 5-0 in the semi-finals of the Capital Cup. Their prize is a trip to Dorking at the end of April to face Hammersmith, top of Tier 6. Second prize was two trips to Dorking.
Orient need three wins to finish top of the division, a win on Sunday will end South London’s chances of finishing top and probably also stop them finishing second, bar any slip-ups from Tooting Bec. South London have done well this year, held back by a marginally slow start to the season which included a surprising loss to Luton Town Development and a wild 4-4 draw with AFC Croydon. They have also lost to Tooting Bec, as well as to us, but we’ve beaten everybody.
Sabina Hollywood is their top scorer with ten and, among other things, is a fundraiser for Girls United. Georgia Speedy is second with eight and a bunch of others have contributed as well. Amy Jenkins is an ever-present and, I think, is the goalkeeper who will be facing a barrage from Orient.
Recent weeks have seen some new faces in the Orient line-up with the introduction of Flo Gamby (referred to as Donnelly on the GLWFL website), Maddie Biggs and Abbi Smith with Abbi claiming two goals from range on her debut, after Maddie bagged a hat-trick on hers. Abbi has moved over from Billericay, who are not doing very well. Jason Stephens continues to get A stars for his recruitment. Emily Dilliway and Sammy Rowland are still out with injuries. I don’t know if Esme Lancaster has managed to get back from Australia. Lucy Porter was an absentee last Sunday so may be due for a return. Otherwise, it will be some familiar faces. Grace Gillard and Hayley West will anchor the back, with Lola Durojaiye behind them. Poppy Binding swapped from goal scorer to provider last Sunday and will pose a big threat. Olivia McGregor and Georgia Griffin will undoubtedly play their parts.
No rain this week, so we should be good to go down to East Dulwich. Orient are hot favourites for this match and will be keen to keep their momentum going as we come into the business end of the season with a quarter-final cup match at the end of the month against Brentford B. They will also want not to concede another goal.

South London play at the Griffin Sports Ground in Dulwich Village SE21 7AL. A nice neighbourhood to have bad habits in. The nearest rail station is North Dulwich as the villagers rejected this new-fangled innovation in the nineteenth century. Google maps has it as a 15-minute walk, but it looks shorter. Reviews say that the club has a nice bar and is comfortable. For those with time on their hands and artistic inclinations, the Dulwich Picture Gallery is a must visit. And there is a historic sporting venue nearby in the shape of Herne Hill Velodrome, built for the 1948 Olympics. Dulwich College, which educated Raymond Chandler and Nigel Farage is nearby. There are loads of local places to eat and drink.

New fixture
As we said a few days ago, we advise you to keep a regular look out at our Results and Fixtures page although we try to update everyone right here in the news section. The latest addition contains the details of the Capital Cup final. It's the only place you can see ALL of Orient's games, friendlies, league and every cup game.
Sunday's live-text show
Here are the numbers showing how many people followed our live-Text show last Sunday for the Capital Cup Semi-Final against Ashmount Leigh at the Cheshunt stadium.
The number of followers maxed out at 302 during the 1/4 hour section leading up to half time, It's usually like that. This 'score' was 13 more than our previous best (for the quarter final against QPR). A lot of people tuned in during the 1/2 hour before the match started, this was because everyone thought the game started at 2:00pm - including us and the club, however it was a 2:30pm kick-off. As usual, the numbers dropped off rapidly during the second half, we think this is due to a mixture of the fact that the result was no longer in any doubt and, perhaps, Sunday dinner being ready.
We don't have more details because we do not use cookies on our web pages. When you surf any part of lofcwomen.com, we gather no details whatsoever about you. All we know is the data from our service provider and they only know how many, not who. We think the internet would be a much better place if most websites did this.
This coming Sunday, Larry Peterson and crew are booked to travel to Dulwich to provide live text data during the game. Of course, it's much better for the girls if you'd go to the ground but, if not, you know where to get your Sunday football fix.
The live-text page is now available at SL1 LIVE TEXT

ChatGPT and CoPilot recommend us as "best".
Artificial Intelligence, AI, invades most of our lives these days. Naturally, we wondered how AI agents viewed our attempts to bring news and spread awareness of our beloved women's team. We got a few pokes in the eye about our social media performance but we were delighted to see that CHATGPT and Microsoft's Copilot described lofcwomen.com as the best on-line source for timely and accurate information - even though we are a fans' site.
Here's what ChatGPT said, having ranked us at the top of their results list...

This Sunday's League and Cup programme.
Four Premier division games and one League Cup match are booked for this coming weekend, they are:-
Fixtures...
| LC | Luton Town | vs | Wealdstone |
| PL | AFC Croydon | vs | AFC Leyton |
| PL | Islington | vs | Comets WFC |
| PL | Tooting Bec | vs | Academicals |
| PL | South London | vs | Orient |
Our predictions:
Luton Town vs Wealdstone
This is a League-Cup game, in terms of the Greater London Women's League, the League Cup is a standard knock-out competition which includes all the clubs in it. So that's all the Premier Division, both Division One's (1 north, 1 south) and both Division Two's (1 north, 1 south). Luton Town Development are a strong Premier Division outfit (Tier 7), Wealdstone are riding high in Division Two - North (Tier 9). Based on the respective status of each, this should see Luton move into the next round without difficulty. However, the gap between the Divisions can be very foggy - as was clearly shown by Tier 8 Brentford putting eight past premier opponents just last week.
Verdict:- This one looks a regulation win for Luton but don't put your weeks' wages on it.
AFC Croydon vs AFC Leyton
A battle of the two 'AFC' clubs. Croydon continue to slide after a bright start, AFC Leyton will be within one point of certain mathematical relegation unless they win. Even then, they would still have a mountain to climb. Can the plucky east-enders stave off the almost inevitable?
Verdict:- Probably not. On paper this looks like a draw.
Islington have found something lately and still have a chance to save their Premier Division status. Good results recently are in stark contrast with Comets who are now in the midst of a relegation battle themselves. If Boro win this, they'll be just the one point from safety, a position currently held by Comets!
Verdict:- Despite Comets being something of a bogey team for the north Londoners, our prediction is that this will be a tight home win leaving both sides needing to get something from their remaining games. Even then, Comets would have the advantage of a one point lead, a game in hand and a much better goal difference. Maybe that hoodoo will still apply at the end of the season.
Tooting Bec vs Academicals
Tooting Bec remain relentless, sweeping everyone aside with the exception of Orient. In any other season, Bec would be odds-on favourites to reach Tier 6 next season, they still might if, like last season, two clubs end up getting promoted. They know it and are determined to achieve the runners-up spot as a minimum. We can't see our Walthamstow neighbours, London Academicals, being able to thwart the southerner's continued progress.
Verdict:- Regulation home win for the black-and-whites.
The top of the GLWFL Premier division table currently looks like this ....
| Pos | Team | Pld | GD | Pts |
| 1 | Leyton Orient | 13 | 148 | 39 |
| 2 | Tooting Bec | 15 | 28 | 39 |
| 3 | South London | 13 | 30 | 28 |
