Match report
Leyton Orient 7:0 Tooting Bec.
Greater London Premier league – 09/11/2025

Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash saw unbeaten league leaders Orient take on second-placed Tooting Bec, who had just one loss in six. The result? A commanding 7–0 victory for the E10 ladies – a scoreline many would have predicted. The win puts Orient three points clear at the summit, with a game in hand over all their nearest rivals.

Played at Cheshunt, the scoring began early with Wiki Fronc netting in the 3rd minute – a landmark 100th goal for the team this season across league and FA Cup fixtures. The floodgates opened from there, with goals from:

Ellie Thomas-Leek (15’, 45’ pen)
Sammy Rowland (39’, 81’)
Steph McCaffrey (41’)
Poppy Binding (51’)

Ellie Thomas Leek

Ellie Thomas Leek, scored twice plus an assist and ran the game from midfield. A class act!

Tooting Bec initially sat deep in a compact low block, frustrating Rowland and McCaffrey with little space to operate. But around the half-hour mark, Orient eased off their usual high press, tempting ‘Bec’ forward. That tactical shift left gaps at the back – and Orient ruthlessly exploited them, scoring three times in six minutes before the break. A masterstroke from coach Jason Stevens? We’d like to think so. Game over.

The second half was more routine, with two more goals added and no major incidents. Just as impressively, keeper Lola Durojaiye kept yet another clean sheet – maintaining a perfect defensive record in the league so far. Could the O’s go an entire league season without conceding? With this backline, it’s not out of the question.

Greater London Women's Premier league

This Sunday's results and round-up

Lge AFC Croydon 2 : 0 London Accies
Lge Comets 6 : 2 Islington
Lge Leyton Orient 7 : 0 Tooting Bec
Lge Sporting Duet 0 : 4 AFC Leyton

AFC Croydon maintain their credentials as a genuine contender for the title with a 2:0 win over the Academicals. Croydon are handily placed in third, just a point below 2nd placed Tooting Bec. The Accies drop to 3rd from bottom and are now the new targets for the teams in the relegation spots to aim for.

As we thought, Comets proved too strong for the ladies at Islington Borough, a 6:2 reversal means the north Londoners have hit the bottom for the first time this season - or any other season! That win pushed Comets above the Accies on GD.

Sporting Duet were well beaten by bottom club (until today) AFC Leyton who hit four unanswered goals at the south Londoners' home ground. The game saw three yellow cards and a big impact from Leyton's Louise Wells who came off the bench to hit a brace. Leyton, like Islington, are six points below the Academicals who sit just above the relegation spots. Last week, we would've said that was a mountain to climb but after this win, who would bet against AFC Leyton rescuing their season over the coming weeks.

Eleven straight wins

Going back to the beginning of August, O's women have played eleven games, a mixture of pre-season, FA Cup and league games. All eleven were wins with a total of 110 goals scored with just the one conceded (a freaky/worldie). The run started with a 4:0 win over Tottenham's under-19 side in early August, it includes at least three teams from higher leagues and the rest are Tier 7 league games. A field day for statistics fans (we'll leave that to you), you can see an easy-to-lookup results page where the green segments (right hand side) denote victories. Enjoy!
