Leyton Orient VS Tooting Bec.
Greater London Premier league – 9/11/2025
Tooting Bec
A top of the table clash against a team with whom we have some history and have played some closely fought and spicy matches. The Bec are going well this year, pushing again for a top league finish and possibly promotion. They have only lost once this season in the league and hammered Sporting Duet 5-0 on Sunday.
Led from the front by the combative Bryony Bancroft whose not been quite in top form – although 4 goals from 6 matches is not to be sniffed at. Her teammates are making up the difference, with five players on two goals each.
Orient warmed up for this match by clobbering a luckless AFC Leyton 15-0 led by Steph McCaffrey’s superb double hat-trick and Poppy Binding’s single hat-trick. Sammy Rowland was confined to two goals and the Wiktoria’s chipped in with three between them. As the days are getting colder, we may have to start a collection for a better base layer for goalkeeper Lola Durojaiye. The team will be largely unchanged from this match.
The 'Bec' are, however, a different proposition to AFC Leyton and we have had some good close matches against them in the past. This is an important match, first against second, and Orient will want to show no mercy. I confess to quite liking the Bec who seem a good-hearted competitive bunch with a nice east versus sarf London vibe to the match. Unfortunately for them, although they would like to see last year’s result in March as an aberration, I suspect it is a premonition of what is to come on Sunday.
The venue has been changed to enable some playing surface work to be done at the BetWright Stadium so the game will go ahead at the ladies' regular home venue at Cheshunt.

Our thanks to Simon Hancock of Tooting Bec women's team who writes....
I don’t think there is too much to report since we last played and we have been trying to stay under the radar. We have a new management team and a few new faces but the latter is more natural attrition than revolution as we don’t have much of a budget. We’ve had a decent start but I wouldn’t read too much into scorelines as we have been practicing a low block, in fact we might rest Bryony (Bancroft) on Sunday and play a defender instead.
You must be delighted with your start to the season, maximum points and no goals conceded? Looks like all roads lead to step 6 although am guessing that comes at a cost, how has it been watching uncompetitive matches most weekends?
See you on Sunday ;-)

| Lge | Sporting Duet | : | AFC Leyton |
| Lge | Leyton Orient | : | Tooting Bec |
In time honoured fashion, we'll have a go at forecasting the results:
AFC Croydon remain strong contenders for a top three finish whilst London Academicals were on the wrong end of a 12:2 thumping at the hands of South London WFC last Sunday (It's not just us scoring big!...Ed) It's hard to see how our nearest neighbours, the Accies are based in Walthamstow, can keep out the title contenders from the south. Verdict: A convincing win for the Southern ladies.
Comets are having a poor season by their standards having amassed just six points from six games. On Sunday they host Islington Borough who have just three points from six. Borough have Comets in the cross-hairs as the team they'll need to overhaul if they are to maintain their Premier division status. They've conceded twenty goals at home having lost all three games, however, away from north London they are only -1 in GD and have their victory on the road at AFC Leyton. Comets' home form is almost as bad as Boro's - this could be a famous away win for the north London side.
Sporting Duet will fancy their chances of adding to AFC Leyton's misery as the latter continue to search for their first points. They are unlikely to face the overwhelming forces they encountered last Sunday at home to Orient but the form book makes it impossible to predict anything other than a win for Duet.
Finally, the all-conquering Os will host Tooting Bec to a league match at the BetWright Stadium at Brisbane Road. These two sides have been locked in a close tussle for several seasons now, one goal has been the difference on nearly every occasion - except one! Last season's 9:1 defeat to the O's will have been difficult for the tough south London outfit. They are again providing the major challenge for the title this year but we predict the Orient steam-roller will continue to the league title.
