About us and the women's teams at Leyton Orient
This is an independent website seeking to focus on and give support to the women's team at Leyton Orient Football Club. The ethos of the women's organisation at the club is to give an opportunity for young women to get into football and take advantage of the various available physical and personal development opportunities. The women's team is run wholly as part of Leyton Orient F.C. and is overseen by the club's director of football, Martin Ling and has its own development officer in former star player Olivia Worsfold.
A little history for context
Having previously tried an association with an external women's team a few years ago, it was deemed that some decisions and the general direction being taken was not what the Leyton Orient board had envisaged so it was decided to end the partnership and start again from scratch with a new women's organisation run entirely by the club. This has grown into the current LOFC Women's team.
Under F.A rules, it was necessary that the new team must begin at the lowest step of the women's football pyramid, which they did in 2021/22. However, in view of the facilities available to the club and the recruitment of top staff, headed up by UEFA Qualified Football Coach Danny Martin, it was no surprise when the Orient ladies gained promotion in their first season in the Greater London Women's Football League (GLWFL Division 2) and then in 2021/22, they went the entire season undefeated, in fact they won every game bar one draw, thus they won GLWFL Division 1 and entered the GLWFL Premier division.
Now we're reached the end of the 2023/24, the first in the GLWFL Premier division. Whilst always being among the favourites to win this, the top GLWFL division, the team ultimately missed the top spot by just two points. Going forward, and in view of some good players emerging from the Under 18s side, there is every reason to be optimistic about the up-coming 2024/25 season.
Where's home
Leyton Orient have excellent ties with Buckhurst Hill F.C. who have a first class ground and facilities at Myrak Park, Roding Lane, Buckhurst Hill. IG7 6BH.
This continues to be the home pitch for Leyton Orient's Women's first team. There's some covered standing, car parking, club house and excellent facilities there. Here's a link to Google maps
The games start at 2pm on Sundays so we encourage you to spend a couple of hours supporting the Orient ladies at the Myrak. If you prefer to go by UndergrounD, Buckhurst Hill Central Line station is a 5-10 minute walk away, just leave the station, turn right, turn right again and keep going straight down the hill, Buckhurst Hill's ground will be on your right.
Occasionally, there may be an opportunity to play at the Gaughan stadium at Brisbane Road, indeed the ladies have already played there on a few occasions including recording a famous Cup victories over higher league opponents.
