Our new league for 2026/7
The Eastern Region Women's Football League (ERWFL) has published it's teams for the new 2026/27 season. The league has a Premier Division at Tier 5, plus a Division One - North and a Division One - South - both of which are at Tier 6. Leyton Orient will play our first season at Tier 6 in Division One - South.
Here's the list of teams in our division and a little info about their performance last season.

At first glance, there are some interesting games in prospect....
AFC Sudbury Reserves is the development/youth team from Tier 5 club AFC Sudbury. Like us, they've just won their regional league at Tier 7 so we'd expect something similar to the Luton Town Dev team we faced in the GLWFL last season.
Chelmsford City Had a strong season in this league but missed the top spot by six points having lost only one league match all season.
Putting aside the obvious connection between our 2025/26 team which contained a number of former Hashtag and Hashtag Reserves players, we don't understand why they remain in this league having finished as champions last season. Doubtless all will become clear in the fullness of time.
We remember a pre-season friendly against Hutton a year or two ago (they were in Tier 5 then) which turned out to be a not-so-friendly affair. That will happen when two committed teams come face to face, nevertheless, we look forward to getting another crack at them.
Maldon and Tiptree won their Tier 7 league - under the management of one Jody Buckley. He will now lead a Leyton Orient team to face his previous charges. We know there's a great deal of warmth between him and his former players but things change so no quarter will be given from either side once we get on the green stuff. We are aware of some dire goings-on at M&T concerning the owners there, we hope that will all be cleared up ASAP thereby leaving the girls to get on and play football.
Who doesn't relish a confrontation with any team from Southend Utd? There's little or no history between us as far as we know but kismet has brought us together in the women's sphere, we look forward to typical Os vs Shrimpers battles.
As far as we recall, all teams winning the Greater London Premier Division in previous years have moved on to Tier 6 in the London and South-Eastern Region WFL - but not this time. Perhaps it is a reflection of where most of the Orient people live and an effort to avoid travelling to west London or to south Of the Thames?
What we do know is that a similar move looked to have been made at the beginning of last season when we were accepted into a Tier 7 spot in an Essex based league. However, The FA scotched the move at the last minute and caused all manner of stress as we searched around for support to re-join the Greater London WFL even though we didn't want to play in it. It was a mess caused by the FA who ruled we would not be allowed to play "out of region" - despite Luton Town Dev being placed into the Greater London League. We trust the powers-that-be will not repeat that mistake.
We'll attempt to contact the opposing clubs over the coming weeks and bring the latest news to everyone.
