LEYTON ORIENT WOMEN FC

18th Dec 2025

Match Preview
Leyton Orient -v- London Academicals.
Greater London WFL - Premier division – 21/12/2025

After the Lady Mayoress’s show we return to Cheshunt for a visit from the Academicals (Accies). The Accies were promoted last year alongside AFC Leyton. They were founded to provide a pathway from women playing at university, into the local league and most of their players are University of London alumni. Rumour has it that they are largely from UCL so there is the possibility of their bringing along an embalmed Jeremy Bentham to watch. (If Orient win, do they get the head?) Accies have gone along reasonably well at this level, although there were big losses to Sporting Duet and South London First. Goals are provided almost exclusively by Keely Nazareth with eight in six games. Second best is Michelle Hill, with three in five games. They don’t seem to have a very settled team as there are no ever presents. Three women have managed seven appearances: Paul Arrus, Raquel Mezquita and Tara Mathias. The thing with university based teams is that you never know who is going to turn up. It can vary from your normal range of footballers to someone who has played professionally or at international level and has decided to do a university course. London is a big draw for international students.

Last Sunday's Hat-trick hero - Wiktoria Kiszkis

Last Sunday's Hat-trick hero - Wiktoria Kiszkis.

Orient come into this match top of the division on goal difference (=90+ with two games in hand on second-placed Tooting Bec, who are reading from a different script. Last Sunday the women beat an obdurate AFC Croydon 10-0 with the goals coming in batches. Wiktoria Kiszkis , a hat-trick, which is not good enough to get a kitten named after her. Steph McCaffrey took time off from launching Racketeer.club, (London’s largest centre for padel) to bag a brace – much needed relaxation, I’m sure. Poppy Binding and Gemma Baker also chipped in with two apiece. Orient will put out a similar team this Sunday, with Sammy Rowland still on the injured list and Lois Heuchan on holiday. I would expect to see Ellie Leek back in midfield, either starting or as a substitute. Poppy Binding has been in incredible goal-scoring form the last two matches. Christmas is not going to come early for the Accies and, if the girls keep their concentration up, this is likely to be another double-digit victory. This should set Orient up nicely for the Christmas break. Gizmo.

How Wiki Fronc does it...

When a team is successful there can be lots of negativity so we thought we would take an opportunity to highlight some attributes of a few of the women playing at Leyton Orient. Over the coming weeks, we'll take a look at the recruitment of our top players from the national hierarchy, we'll shine a light on why so many women who had good careers in the USA yet prefer to do their thing here. Today, we'll just bring into focus one particular player and how it is that opponents probably have no real idea of who she is or how she manages to dominate the middle of the park no matter how big, strong or fit the opponent. Introducing... Wiki Fronc, she of the Polish name and diminutive frame.

Here's a few video clips we've cobbled together which give an idea of who Wiki really is and how she achieves what she does. We've watched women's football, at both high and low levels, quite a bit over the past few years, if there's a better midfielder around than Wiki Fronc, we haven't seen her. Maybe these YouTube clips will bring into focus why she is so highly valued by us. Oh, if you are a player for an opposing team, take a look at the video and understand what you'll be up against. Better still, be inspired to follow in Wiki's footsteps. CLICK HERE to view the video. Wiktoria, 'Wiki' for short, has played at very high level competition in the US and in the UK, she was a key member of the famous Hashtag Utd team who stormed up women's national league over recent years and picked up several 'gongs' as they did so. We know she has completed an Iron Man, run round the Isle of wight, run marathons and completed many other perseverance and stamina sports - how about running 122km over 25 hours?

Greater London WFL Premier preview.

As we approach the final Sunday of GLWFL league football for 2025, here are this coming Sunday's games, just the two of them, and our predictions of the outcomes. Who will wear a smile throughout the holidays? This Sunday was earmarked for the League Cup, 1st round, but all the premier division teams were awarded byes. Round two will be fought out on 11th January 2026, we have been drawn against the GFWFL Division One (North) league leaders United Dragons at Cheshunt with a 2pm kick off, Meanwhile, as both ourselves, AFC Croydon and South London got deeper into the FA Cup competition than is considered 'normal' for Tier 7 sides, we each lost out on league games and have fallen behind in the games-played list. All three are therefore taking advantage of the League Cup byes to do a bit of catching up this Sunday.

Lge AFC Croydon Ath : South London
Lge Leyton Orient : London Accies

South London can get within two points on second placed Tooting Bec if they can pick up three points against Croydon. As we saw last Sunday, Croydon are a strong and determined group so South London are unlikely to reverse into the win. What we don't know is the depth of the damage done to the Croydon squad having gone down ten-nil to the all-conquering Os only last Sunday. They didn't put much of threat on our defence and South London are well known for their defence and goalkeeping prowess. However, the two sides fought out a 4:4 draw on the opening day of the league season.
Our verdict: South London to put the final nail in the coffin of Croydon's hopes to be in the rostrum at the end of the season. London Academicals have won just one away league game this season, am encouraging 2:1 victory at Comets WFC. Writing this before seeing Gizmo's preview, I can't see the Accies having enough to keep out the likes of Wiktoria Kiszkis, Poppy Binding, Gemma Baker and Steph McCaffrey who notched up nine between them against higher rated Croydon last Sunday. As for getting past Grace Gillard, Hayley West, Emilly Dilliway and Kallie Balfour at the back... nobody else has managed that in eight league games so far (apart from one OG which was not the result of the opponents doing anything). Notwithstanding the industry and vision of Wiki Fronc and Esme Lancaster in the middle, not forgetting an equally strong bench.... it all looks familiar to what we've seen so far this season. All Orient's results, league and cups, can be seen HERE . The additional fixture has been added on 11/1/2026, a home league cup game against Untied Dragons. The official league table (and much more) can be seen via our Info and Menu page.

Up next

A break, well earned by everyone. The next game is booked for 4th January 2026 which is a GLWFL game against Islington Borough Ladies, to be played at Cheshunt. Check back here on Friday 2nd January to see our preview of that game plus any other snippets which may come our way in the meantime. We will be broadcasting our final live-text show on Sunday with a match review the following day. We hope to catch you then!
